Where has all the good thrift gone?

Once a regular stop on my weekly route, I have stopped shopping at my local American Cancer Society thrift shop. Their prices are out of reach, and they send away anything that isn't perfect, so it isn't any fun to dig through stuff. I go in there, and everything looks the same, awash in bleh, even though they turn over their clothing faster than any store I've ever seen. My new m.o. is to go to places who have junk. Yesterday I went to four stores and only went through the junk. It's not worth it to me to purchase something for just half its retail value. I think that thrift is having an identity crisis, and I don't want to be a part of it. I don't want to contribute to a place that's screwing over its core clientele to reach new customers. So I'm poor. What of it?

  1. Why so angry? And when did the dog get a sweater? It's great!

  2. Amy, thank you for your very astute comment. However, in many ways, with my title, I was referencing Footloose. As you may know, there is a remake coming out. Also, the song in question refers to a "white knight upon a fiery steed", upon which I focus all my hopes and dreams.

  3. Well, I did miss the reference to Footloose. And, no, I did not know that a remake is coming out. But, I was responding more to this comment:

  4. Uh, I was trying to avoid your question entirely. Let a girl make a smooth exit, will ya?
