Where does all the good TV go?

This summer, about half of my household got really into the television series "Jericho", a short-lived apocalyptic wonder starring Skeet Ulrich as a bad-boy turned good who saves his hometown from destroying itself after the entire US gets nuked and they're all alone in the middle of nowhere. It lasted a season and a half before it got canceled. It has a very dedicated cult following.

I don't know why; it really doesn't suit me, but I love stuff like this. I used to have a friend that I could go to these kinds of end-of-the-world movies with when I was in college, but now I don't, so I think I avoid going alone out of fear. It's fun to have a guilty pleasure with a fellow guilt-ridden companion. It's less fun to indulge alone. Or maybe I'm past a time in my life when I can indulge in that way. I've stopped going to the movies because it seems decadent, but I used to go all the time.

So now, in the vein of shows that died too soon, I give you a list of worthwhile television shows I've found this summer that are well worth watching when you have the chance, but had short lives:

1. Jericho. (2006-2008). CBS. Sci-Fi meets reality. 24 fans would love. And Republicans.
2. Six Degrees. (2006-2007). ABC. J.J. Abrams. Drama. Intrigue. Great cast.
3. Conviction. (2006). NBC. Law & Order-esque but with more relational connections.

Wow. I'm noticing a trend here. I missed out on good TV for a few years, all because I was too busy working and hanging out with my pals. Graduate school has put me back on the right track.
